A lot of older men out there are interested in dating younger women.  I can understand why.  Young women generally are more attractive and more open to new experiences.  They haven’t been jaded by life yet, and this is often refreshing and welcomed by men.

But a lot of guys feel apprehensive about dating younger women.  There really is no need to.  Let me dispel a few common limiting beliefs right here:

Myth #1 – Women Are Only Interested in Dating Men Their Own Age

Fact – Women like dating older men.  Older men show maturity and experience.  Women think this is extremely sexy.  The key here is you need to be mature, calm, and in control.

If you’re quick-tempered, loud, and petty, then you offer nothing that she couldn’t get from an obnoxious frat boy her own age.  Chances are she’s already experienced that and she wants something more.

You’ve seen the world and worked hard to get where you are.  She’s looking for that calm and in command presence that only a mature man can offer.

Myth #2 – The Age Difference Is an Issue when Dating Younger Women

Fact – The age difference is only an issue if you make it one.  As we discussed earlier, she wants you to be a mature guy.  Getting worried about the age difference or how the relationship might seem “inappropriate” doesn’t make you look mature, it makes you look insecure.

So, just relax and let it be what it is.  There is no set definition for what love should look like.  It comes in all forms.  Learn to embrace it instead of questioning it.

Myth #3 – She’s Just in It for Your Money

Fact – Though a lot of people think that women only date older men for their money.  These women are more often than not interested in more than your money.  They want something different than they can get from a guy their own age (sometimes you just get tired of watching your boyfriend doing a keg-stand before passing out on the front lawn).

But be a man and pay for dinner when you’re out with her.  Yes, this is the 21st century and women are all “liberated” in most developed countries now, but now is not the time to be stingy.  She expects to pay every now and again with a guy her own age (starving students and struggling artists living off of Top Ramen), but you represent more than that for her.

Be a little old fashioned and pay for things, but don’t become nothing more than a walking wallet for her either.

Dating younger women can be a great boost for a guy’s self-esteem, and if that’s what you want, then go for it.  Don’t let society and stereotypes hold you back from living the kind of life you want to live.  You only live once, so you might as well have a good time while you can.
