3 Dangerous Mistakes When Writing an Online Dating Profile

Online Dating Tips Men Need to KnowIf you’re not getting any results with online dating, it’s probably because you’ve made some serious mistakes when writing an online dating profile that are just flat-out getting you ignored causing you to waste your hard-earned money on the membership fee.

Turn the Internet into Your Dating Playground

Let’s go over some surprisingly common mistakes and how to fix them:

Mistake #1 – Writing an Online Dating Profile for Men Not Women

You’re a guy, so you naturally talk like a guy.  I get it.  But unfortunately, this isn’t going to get you very far if you’re trying to strike a chord with women.  Guys like to talk about straight and simple facts.  Things like “I’m tall,” “I’m funny,” and “I’m a nice guy.”

Unfortunately, this kind of writing is just killing your chances with women.  Why?  Because the woman doesn’t want information or facts about you.  She wants to get to know what sort of guy you are.  And the only way you can show this to her is to express your personality.

The Fix -  When writing an online dating profile tell her stories that express in vivid detail what kind of person you are.  Try something like, “I love going camping down by the ocean.  Nothing moves me more than watching the sun set as I sink my toes into the sand and stare out at the waves contemplating the vastness of the ocean.”  This says a lot more to a woman than “I like camping and I’m smart too.”

Mistake #2 – User Pictures That Make You Look Like a Dweeb

When you’re selecting your pictures, you need to be careful.  A lot of guys use take some blurry picture of them sitting in front of their computer.  This isn’t good.  It makes it look like all you do is sit in front of a computer all day.  This will make women think you’re boring.

Also, that’s great if you’ve been working out and you’ve got an awesome set of six-pack abs, but you can show it to the girl on your first date.  If a girl sees a picture of you flexing your muscles before she has any clue at all about who you are, she’s going to think you’re just doing online dating to hook up with girls.  In other words, she’ll think you see the internet as a meat market.

The Fix – Take some nice pictures of yourself.  They don’t need to be professionally done, just decent pictures of you being happy and doing things that you enjoy.  It helps if the pictures are of activities that you described when writing an online dating profile.

Mistake #3 – Bad User Name

When you’re writing an online dating profile, put some thought into your user name.  Something like “John1985” is really boring and forgettable.  Also, you want to avoid user names that just make you look pathetic like “Desperate4Luv” or “ShyGuy83.”

The Fix - Make it something interesting and memorable that says something about you, like “GearsAndGuitars” if you love cars and rock and roll.  Don’t make your username  overtly sexual, but if there’s a double entendre, that’s good.  For example, if you actually do love animals or work at an animal shelter or something, a name like “AnimalLover” is excellent.

These tips should help you when you sit down and start writing an online dating profile.  Avoid these mistakes and you should start to see women taking an interest in you.  Heck, maybe they’ll even go out of their way and message you instead of you having to message them.
